Contemplate
The passing of time fascinates me. Whether humans are present or not, I imagine those who came before us. Those who thought, built, adorned.
I think of the silent generations who, stone after stone, offered the centuries the contours of a beautiful, liveable city.
Savour
Marvelling since childhood at the beauty of the world, I travel sketchbook in hand. My mind lingers on what we too often forget: the same humans, with the same failings, have lived in very different worlds.
I contemplate cities the way one would read an ancient poem — slowly, with respect.
Pass on
My works are fragments of history. They speak of slowness, of transmission, of the beauty born of accumulation.
They are also tributes to culture, to the sacred, to architecture as a mirror of the collective soul.
“To paint a city is to release from their setting the historical strata that shaped it. It is to rediscover the soul of a place: its constructions, its destructions, its evolution. I am not after a postcard — I seek to reveal an invisible memory.”
My works are meant to become part of history
